The PADI Divemaster course is the first step to being a dive professional. It expands your knowledge past that of any previous course, enabling you to gain valuable experience and work in the world of diving.
You will complete the course requirements according to PADI standards and obtain mastery. This course is a 3-6 week course, and requires the candidate to already have the required 40 dives. Ideal for someone who just wants the qualification and is short on time.

Cost: $2800 with all your own equipment and $3350 hiring everything from us.
What does the course involve?
Gain practical experience giving dive briefings with real customers, assisting with dive courses and leading underwater dives. You will learn how to anticipate problems and provide assistance, create an Emergency Assistance Plan and improve your navigation and problem-solving skills through practical workshops.
As a professional member of PADI, you will be able to gain access to some great benefits, including their online job network, professional publications such as The Undersea Journal and special rates on materials purchased directly from PADI.
Knowledge Development
Register with PADI's E-Learning online and do all the theory at your own pace.
We will issue you an eLearning code to access your portal.
Through independent study and in your own time, you will cover 12 topics in the knowledge development module and then complete 8 Divemaster exams (75% pass rate or makeup). We are only an email away, and are happy to help with any questions.
Practical Skills
The Water Skills and Stamina module will develop and evaluate your overall watermanship skills. Not only will you complete several timed swimming exercises, but also brush up on your rescue skills.
Application
All the practical applications of the Divemaster course at Dive! Tutukaka is the real thing. You will be working with divers, handling boats, tying knots, guiding certified divers, and experiencing normal conditions. This prepares you for a professional role within the industry.
This allows you to learn and practice divemaster skills by applying what you've learnt from the Knowledge Development and Water Skills & Stamina modules. You will complete exercises such as mapping, underwater problem solving and managing a dive accident scenario.
When all the required training exercises have been completed, you will then have a chance to develop and practice your divemaster skills with actual students and divers (under Instructor supervision). During your time with us, you will be trained in how to assist an Instructor during dive courses, and you will be able to assume appropriate responsibilities that benefit the welfare of other divers.
What do I need to supply?
- Hold your PADI Rescue diver qualification (or equivalent)
- Evidence that you have completed a sanctioned course in CPR in the last 24 months
- Your Record of Learning form downloaded from the PADI E-Learning site
- Minimum of 40 logged dives
- Proof you are over 18 years of age
- Medical exam form signed by a physician
- Personal dive gear (mask, snorkel, fins)
