Try diving for the first time, breathe underwater, and hang out with friendly fish in a complete Marine Reserve.
You will head out for the hour-long journey to the Poor Knights Islands and Marine Reserve, and once you are there you will have plenty of time for snorkelling, kayaking, drinking hot drinks, enjoying the fantastic scenery and lazing about in the sun! When it is time for your dive, one of our friendly and experienced Instructors will have a chat with you to explain some of the basic principles of diving – just enough for you to have a completely safe and fun time.
You’ll get into the water together and do a couple of very basic skills to make sure you are completely comfortable. Then the two of you will go off on your exciting dive together to check out the amazing underwater world that is the Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve. You will do one dive to a maximum of 12 metres, with your Instructor holding your hand all the way – literally if you like!
All dive equipment, and snorkel equipment is included.
What does the course involve?
You will need to be here at our dive centre in Tutukaka at 8am on the morning of your booked dive, where you will meet your crew and for your equipment. We’ll get you to complete a little paperwork, including a medical questionnaire. It is very important that you have no history of asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, heart or lung conditions, or chronic sinus/ear conditions. If you have any of these we will need to see a doctor’s certificate stating that you are fit to dive.
Prescription medication, surgery in the last 12 months, as well as a positive COVID-19 test, are recent additions - please make sure you are good to go on all of these - we hate disappointing people in the morning, 'cos we really want to get you diving!
All equipment and instruction are provided, and you will be in the water with one of our experienced Instructors.
What do I need to supply?
Swimming togs, and a towel, sense of adventure and fun.
All snorkelling, kayaking, and paddle boarding options are included as well.
When do you run the courses?
Every single day!
