Join your family or friends on board the dive boat even if you are not a diver! Come along and enjoy a trip out to the Poor Knights where you will have the opportunity to snorkel or relax on board the boat while the others in your group dive.

This is the perfect option for those who want to come for an adventure out to the Poor Knights Islands with friends or family who are diving but do not want to go scuba diving themselves. You will have the opportunity to snorkel in the beautiful marine reserve and to relax on board the dive boat as well as a tour around the islands to see the various sea arches and the largest sea cave in the world!

Details

  • Arrive at the dive shop at 8:00 am for check-in and equipment fitting.
  • A 45–60-minute boat ride out to the islands.
  • On the boat ride, an crew member will review your experience and tailor the day accordingly. Keep your eyes peeled for whales and dolphins on the crossing.
  • The skipper will provide a vessel and safety briefing before departure and before you gear up to enter the water, along with some information about the islands and their history.
  • We will visit two different sites to snorkel/dive at the islands, which are selected based on current conditions and the experience levels of everyone on the boat.
  • Between dives/snorkels, there is a 60–90-minute surface interval for the divers on board which is time to relax or have lunch, with complimentary hot drinks provided. We also take a tour of the islands, including the archways, caves, cliffs, and Riko Riko Cave.
  • After the second snorkel/dive site, we return to Tutukaka, arriving between 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm. Timing may vary slightly depending on wildlife sightings.
