We have three priorities guiding our decisions during this time of uncertainty: to keep our employees safe, to ensure service to our customers and partners, and to do our part in preventing the spread of the virus.
The time has come to ramp up the part about stopping the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Our Prime Minister has issued an Alert Two - which limits unnecessary travel, and curtails domestic travel, and asks that we cease all non-essential travel.
Our team has elected for a temporary closure to flatten that bloody COVID-19 curve.
We can't sugarcoat how hard this is for us right now.
This is our social responsibility. And it is the right thing to do.
As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues its spread, we remain with a heightened awareness at Dive! Tutukaka of our responsibility to our communities.
The risk of community transmission is inevitable and growing.
The Alert Levels will undoubtedly rise, as they follow scientific evidence in outbreaks from around the world. And quickly - everything about this COVID-19 is fast-moving and rapid.
We are gutted, as our boats are spacious, clean, hygienic, and the underwater world is one place where it seems the virus does not spread. And we love diving!
But this is not about us. It is about the more vulnerable in our communities, and the amazing caring connection we all have as New Zealanders, and people.
We will not be running our boats out to the Poor Knights Islands from Monday 23rd March for at least two weeks and until further notice.
We totally understand that this will be a disappointment to many who still intend to travel - believe us, we are gutted to not be able to show you our beautiful Poor Knights Islands.
We are currently doing our best to contact everyone directly so you can change your plans. We don’t take your money until we take you on the water, so the refund hassle should be limited but we are staffing our store, phones and emails to arrange any refunds.
We would love you to rebook, because - we will be open again - as soon as we can.
Our season is NOT over - the water is blue and awesome!
