Yea, in china they still make this gear, for real working dives. It is a FarAsia TF-12 helmet and a TF-12 suit. It is rigged the american way with a belt (not the chinese weights that hang off the helmet corselet). Luke is not wearing the classic lead boots, but american DUI rockboots and ankle weights. I am pumping the air down with a copy of a classic hand pump that we made in Christchurch way back! Pumping is an aerobic sport and gives you a great workout. Pete takes great photos!

Yeah, this experience was amazing. We had a blast. By the time Luke had finished his dive being “hand fed” air, Pete, the hand pump operator, was looking a little puffed so I opted for the mamby pamby compressed air option!!!
We are planning to make this more accessible for more people to try. Believe me its an amazing feeling having a metal bucket bolted over your head! Yeah - if you are the slightest bit claustrophobic maybe this isnt for you!
Watch this space when we head out - the intrepid explorers of the deeeeeeeep to the open water (well it will be 10meters anyway!!!!)
