The Surface of the Sea
Encounters with New Zealand’s Upper Ocean Life
by Iain A. Anderson
“The upper ocean is easy to visit. All you need to do is grab a mask and pair of flippers and go for a snorkel. It is the largest animal habitat on Earth.
In my book I describe inhabitants of the upper ocean that I have been privileged to photograph. These include giant jelly-like plankton drifters, fish, sea turtles, sea snakes, juvenile giant squid, and the world’s largest fish.”
We use this book as a reference here at the dive centre, and our crew use it when they need information themselves. We love it!
In store now! It’s on my Christmas list.

Ben Reilly, UKA very refreshing dive! So nice to go diving in a completely unique environment. Can understand why Jacques rated this as one of the top 10 dive sites in the world. Thanks to the crew for the info and history and nudibranch spotting.
