Northland’s pristine waters offer spectacular diving, in fact some of the best in NZ. The Poor Knights Islands is one of the Top Ten dive sites in the world, rated by Jacques Cousteau, with warmer water, and better visibility than the coast, the marine reserve is full of fish, and this is the time of year when visibility gets up to 35 metres.
20 minutes from Whangarei Airport, the coastal village of Tutukaka is a quaint harbour with plenty of soul. Pick up the rental car, drive to Oceans Hotel, choose from the four restaurants and three bars within walking distance, and enjoy a luxurious night’s sleep. After a buffet complimentary breakfast, dive with Dive! Tutukaka at the Poor Knights on your first day, lunch is served on board the boat, and return to Oceans for your second night.

Discover the Twin Wrecks of the Tui and the Waikato on the following day, finishing at 2.pm and drive the scenic 1.5 hours to the Bay of Islands.
Check in at the Copthorne Waitangi, and after breakfast Dive Ops will pick you up from the hotel wharf to take you on the War and Peace dive. The Rainbow Warrior at Matauri Bay, and the Canterbury sunk in Deep Water Cove.

Another night at the Copthorne to relax, the next day is yours to off-gas and enjoy the sights as you cruise to Whangarei and drop your car off ( two hours from Paihia) before you jump aboard your domestic flight to your next adventure.
