Perfect Day anchored in the bay today, and the schooling snapper, in huge numbers, mingled with kingfish, trevally, and starry toado in never before seen numbers.
Waka ama, beautiful weather, snorkeling, masses of schooling fish, Republic of Tutukaka hats, ......there is a definite summer air in the town of Tutukaka on this Anniversary Weekend, the first time that Tutukaka has celebrated by declaring itself a Republic. Long live the Summer!
The highlight of it all was that scene off Serpent Rock when we saw snapper leaping and thrashing about in a most unsnapperly manner. Skipper ["Excuse me. Are you the Kapiten?" asked a small, superbly mannered European lad] Craig Johnson took us over to investigate.
